Also known as UHE, Urban Home Entertainment is a privately owned company that specializes in Movies, Television, and Musical programming. At UHE we aim to entertain, educate, and enlighten the masses through media, print, and many other mediums. Our dedication to our viewers, expansive drive and inclusive nature keep Urban Home Entertainment at the top of its field.
Barrett Dungy (CEO) of UHE, has always had a yearning to give new and talented filmmakers an opportunity to be seen and heard. Not only was he the first to shop for distribution for Tyler Perry plays, he was also the first to create distribution opportunities for Kevin Hart on his stand-up routine DVD. Today, he partners with filmmakers and release titles of urban multi-cultural films to the most sought after retailers, television, and digital outlets in the US and Canada. Cultural diversity in the films he distributes are important to Barrett, as he ultimately envisions reaching an international outlet.
As the Director of Acquisitions, Trae Dungy, a young creative powerhouse is an experienced filmmaker and standup comedy producer. Having multiple catalysts, such as hands on experience and insight into the film industry, encouraged Trae to partner with his father, resulting in UHE becoming extremely successful. Having been awarded multiple filmmaking accolades since high school, Trae understands the thirst and craving independent filmmakers have. To paint a moving canvas designed to awaken the world with their inspirational message. When asked about the future of UHE, Trae responds;
“What’s special about the entertainment industry is that movies, television, and storytelling will always be around. For us, the exciting thing is that we will always be on the forefront and on the cutting edge, knowing what’s coming next before it’s been discovered.”
Urban Home Entertainment is also thrilled to add Leatrice Ellzy to our team as Acquisitions Associate. Leatrice is a cultural curator, producer, arts administrator, thinker and fan of disruption. “I have a great respect for artists and their ability to tell stories. They allow audiences to step outside of their reality for a moment to exhale, grow, learn or even realize that they can do the impossible. The lives of those who live in urban worlds are not monolithic. Our stories are diverse and rich. Filmmakers provide a lens through which to see our diverse selves. In the past I have only had an opportunity to screen these stories as a film festival presenter. Working with Urban Home Entertainment gives me an opportunity to flip the script and help filmmakers not only find broader audiences, but also enhance their sustainability options through distribution.” – Leatrice Ellzy
